Out drive "showers" are quite common on high performance boats. A lot of heat is generated in the upper gearcase, where the two pinion shafts are mated, and this part is virtually never in the water. Tests have shown these showers to scientifically increase longevity on the upper gear set. Now does this guys Bayliner need one? Don't know...he didn't say what engine he had. He said he had a 3.0 - me thinks, ie a fourbanger with a alpha drive. I don't think he needs it. But hack he had fun making it :-) Capt Jack R.. |
