That's what it looks like.

Look inside the spark plug cap, sometime. Instead of a snap-on spark plug
cap, cheapass Yamaha uses a little coiled up spring wire shoved through the
spark plug wire end. If your Yamaha starts skipping, pull the cap off and
pull this piece of crap back out into place inside the rubber boot.

Been there, done that. Yamaha suckS!

Larry is still upset because he didn't get his $100 downpayment back
after dumping the jetski he broke back on the dealer's doorstep.

I was clearly refering to the PETROL valve, nothing electrical. I am looking
for a tip concerning provisional alloy material repair.

If it's what I think it is, you can simply replace the valve with a
proper-size connector of about the same length. I'd probably use an
in-line fuel filter since extra filters don't hurt.

Just make sure that either you drain/disconnect fuel each time or that
having no shut off won't cause other problems (like fires or explosions).

You may even be able to find the proper valve at the auto parts store.
Unmount it and take it along with you. You might have to switch a
special knob from old to new, but that's a 5 minute job with the proper
tool(s).
