Now talk about a strange race.
Start off by making your own raft, logs provided, and then race using paddles only with other international teams down the Nanay River, a tributary of the Amazon River in the Peruvian Amazon. This is a 2 day event. Race starts from Ninarumi, a small village located on the Nanay River, up river from the Peruvian Jungle City of Iquitos. Then goes down river to another village called Santa Clara where you visit local pubs and restaurants and spend the night in a local hospedaje. The next day you start off again down the Nanay racing towards Bella Vista Nanay, another village outside Iquitos on the Nanay River. Prize is about S1,000 soles, or $300 US Dollars? But it's not about the prize money is it? Check out our web page at http://www.geocities.com/raft_racers/ or send me e-mail, Lalo Calderon at We can make all the arrangements. |
