Heeeyyyyy Rec.Boaters!
I decided to pop back in and am pleasantly surprised to see a few familiar "faces" are still hangin' out here. I've been out of the boating scene for awhile (Gawd - Four years?!!). Got married and am now doing the Landlubber thing (Took me d*mn near forEVER to unload the two stinkpotters I had!). ....And I've switched from "too many boats" to "too many Harleys" (Sucks to be me!!! ;-) Life on Terra Firma is good, though. I'm finding I really enjoy having things like a bona-fide BATHROOM, CLOSETS and a GARAGE - as opposed to a shower the size of a phone-booth (w/10 gallons of hot water), microscopic hanging lockers and my car rusting in the marina parking lot!). And I can run multiple appliances simultaneously!!!! (But I *really* miss being rocked to sleep every night!) Anyway, I'm babbling (as some of you may remember - I *do* have a tendency to do! ;-). I found I just couldn't stay away from boating! ....And I have a soft-spot in my heart for old boats "in need of lovin'!" So I've just adopted a 1967 Texas Tornado mono-hulled sailing dinghy. Hull #6!!! 16'6" LOA, 5'7" beam, swing-keel with a 160' sailplan (I think she'll be FAST!). I've even (kinda) revived the old webpage. I've decided to post progress on "The Restoration." This is a restoration where I hope to remain "true" to the boat's origins - rather than my old duct-tape, chewing gum, and globs-of-epoxy methods of repair (Necessitated, of course, by springing a leak directly over the v-berth at midnight, during a rainstorm)! I'll try to maintain a BoatBlog (probably not daily, but I'll TRY). URL: http://www.imqtpi.com/Dink.htm If anybody out in rec.boats land has had any experience with this type of boat, I'd welcome any advice! And I'll probably start lurking - maybe even posting - here at rec.boats again! "It's good to be back!!!" IMQTPI (Nancy) harleynan95123(at)yahoo(dot)com |
