One of the guys working the marina said the bloody awful fuel prices were
keeping guys off the water. I told him next time vote for a guy for
President who isn't in the pocket of big oil.

You think he knew what you were talking about? Most of the folks working
the marinas down by me couldn't even tell you the name of the Vice
President...nor which party he belongs to.

Tell them to stay away from here. Regular self service is at $ 1.029
per liter. First time that grade of gas has broken the $1.00 barrier,
and I imagine there will be no stopping now.
Brother-in-law dropped in last night. He just bought a new motor for his
open 'cape' type boat (lobster to y'all).
This type was always popular for the inshore fishery.
The motor is a 50hp Honda.
Next sunny day I expect a phone call as he's anxious to try it out.

Hotter than Florida?! Ha! I laugh in your general direction. :-)

I'm heading for Key West tomorrow morning, Hope it's still there. The
water temp at the Sand Key buoy was almost 85F before that ******* Dennis
went through.

the water temp was 81F.

We hit a bunch of likely fishing spots from Fishing Cove and Cedar Point
off the Pax River, to the Calvert Cliffs nuke plant, and a few places of
no particular description where other boats were fishing. Six of the
patrol boats that hang out around the Gas Docks were on Sunday patrol or
some such nonsense.

Three spots, three croakers (two nice ones, one dink), a half dozen
stripers about 12" and one 33" and one 31" off Cedar Point near the
remnants of the old collapsed lighthouse. For some reason they bit on
bloodworms, which we were using while drift fishing between 23 feet and 9
feet of water there. We were using bottom bouncer rigs, and had the baits
up about 3 feet off the bottom or so. Go figure.

My buddy kept a striper to take home, and I kept the two croakers for the
three raccoons and fox visiting for the summer in our backyard.

The spots came from Fishing Cove. There were about 10 boats fishing there,
but not a lot of action. The Nuke Plant gave up one small and one keeper
croaker, and the rest of the bitty stripers.

Banged my head good - twice - inside the cabin. Must have been a reaction
to the heat. Took a nice swim off Calvert Beach.
