is it always the last two numbers that are the year? Don't some builders
put month in there somewhere too??? "tony thomas" wrote in message news:E60ze.141871$nG6.70409@attbi_s22... Boat should have a serial number on the transom somewhere. The last two numbers are the year. The motor has a serial number on the transom bracket somewhere. Post that number here and we can tell you the year. -- Tony my boats and cars at http://t.thomas.home.mchsi.com - "Julien Mills" wrote in message ... Hi, I'm considering buying a 12' aluminum boat with a 7.5 horse mercury, probably about 10 - 15 years old. The seller doesn't know the exact age of the engine (or boat). Is there any way to tell, by examining the engine? Is it printed on a plate somewhere? Or, if it runs well, maybe it doesn't really matter exactly how old it is. Still, it would be nice to know.
