Default Yamaha gearcase

Anyone ever have their gearcase self destruct? I have a 2003 Yamaha ox66
200, bought new this spring. Have only put 25hrs on it. (Had the 20 hr
service done at about 17 hours) Had been hearing some strange noises coming
from the lower unit, and having trouble shifting into reverse, took it in to
the dealer today and they first thought it was a shift adjustment, then
pulled the drain plug and out came curly metal shavings, dealer said the
gearcase is blown, and they order a new one under the warranty. This is my
first Yamaha, just wondering if this is common or not. Thanks Tom

Odd for something like that to happen so early in it's life. But maybe who
did the services didn't fill the lube enough.
