DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - A purported message from the al-Qaida
operative Abu-Musab al-Zarqawi said Friday his group did not plan a chemical
weapons attack as the Jordanian authorities have alleged.

"The (allegation) that there was a chemical bomb to kill thousands of people
is a mere lie," the reported voice of al-Zarqawi says on a tape broadcast
via an Islamic site on the Internet.

"God knows, if we did possess (a chemical bomb), we wouldn't hesitate one
second to use it to hit Israeli cities such as Eilat and Tel Aviv," the
voice said.

How about we talk about the al Qaeda terrorist who was caught trying to
detonate a chemical bomb in Jordan recently?

ABC World News Now. April 27, 2004

In an interview broadcast by ABC's World News Now, the leader of the Al
Qaeda cell organizing the explosive and chemical attack on the Jordanian
security headquarters and the American Embassy in Jordan stated that he
received his training from Al-Zawahiri in Iraq, prior to the fall of
Afghanistan.

The War on Terrorism and the War in Iraq are one and the same.

Might help if you quoted everything Senator Kerry said, rather than just
what you wanted to hear..

MATTHEWS: You‘ve spoken at length and very completely about the how
question. But why do you think we went to war? If there was exaggeration
of WMD, exaggeration of the danger, exaggeration implicitly with the
connection of al Qaeda and 9/11, what‘s the motive for this? What‘s the
why?

Why did Bush and Cheney and the ideologues around take us to war? Why do
you think they did it?

KERRY: It appears, as they peel away the weapons of mass destruction
issue—and we may yet find them, Chris. Look, I want to make it clear. Who
knows if a month from now, three months from now, you find some weapons?
You may.

But you certainly didn‘t find them where they said they were. And you
certainly didn‘t find them in the quantities that they said they were.

And they weren‘t found—I‘ve talked to some soldiers who‘ve come back, who
trained against the potential of artillery delivery, because artillery was
the way that they had previously delivered and it was the only way they knew
they could deliver.

Now we found nothing that is evidence of that kind of delivery.

So the fact is that, as you peeled away, I think it comes down to this
larger ideological, neo-con concept of fundamental change in the region and
who knows whether there are other motives with respect to Saddam Hussein.

But they did it because they thought they could. Because they misjudged
exactly what the reaction would be and what they could get away with.

And they did it, that misjudgment, against the warnings of countless numbers
of people, including General Shinseki, who they then isolated and tarnished.
They did it against the warnings of Brent Scowcroft, Jim Baker, others.

They did it against the warnings of his father in his book about why they
didn‘t go in. And they did it against the warnings of many of us who said
winning the war is not the complicated part. It‘s winning the peace that‘s
complicated.

And I think presidents need to be held accountable for those kinds of
decisions.

RepubliBORG don't like complicated answers to complicated questions. If
all the world's problems can't fit into the standard, eight-crayon
Crayola box, they're lost.

Of course I wouldn't like it. However, my kids are 4 1/2, 2 1/2 and 1

years
old. I'd prefer we deal with the radical Islamics now rather than in 13
years when my oldest is draft age...*AND* those same countries have

nukes.

Bottom line: You'd prefer to send other people's kids to die or be
maimed, either physically or mentally or both.

Just yesterday, the State Dept. released a report showing that international
terrorist incidents reached their lowest level since the late 1960's.

The report also made mention of the fact that they didn't "count" the
attacks made against our troops in Iraq, because those attacks were made
against combatants.

The decline in terrorist incidents must be from one of two things:
1) we've been pretty successful in our war on terrorism
or
2) the terrorists haved focused their attacks on our armed troops...people
who are much better equipped to fight back than civilians in the WTC

Since you liberals refuse to acknowledge that Bush's war on terrorism has
been pretty darned successful, then that means you have to credit the drop
to reason number 2 mentioned above. If that's the case, then I'll ask you:
Wouldn't you rather the attacks be directed against our forces (who are
better trained and equipped to defend themselves) than some innocent
American just going about his/her daily life?

Why would *they* lie?

The rest is just political campaigning. The segment that I posted is just
another example of Kerry trying to "cover all of his bases" and be on both
sides of every issue.

If weapons are found in September, then Kerry can say "see Chris! I told
you there was a chance we might still find them."

Yes. However, it would be even one step better if we'd learn to stop
recreating the problem over and over again, and if the comfortables, like
you, would entertain the right amount of rage when your leaders choose NOT
to learn.
