Default Speedometer?

I have a speedometer in my dash. It is not working however because the
outside unit is missing. I suppose that the outside unit somehow
measures some set suction pressure or some such thing. I would like to
know if the outside sensor units are sold together with tubing
separately from the gauge.

I believe that I have a separate speedometer foot.

Just what brand of Stern Drive uses an integral speedo pickup?

Well, MerCruiser, for one.

An obscure make called "Mercruiser"
Some model they call the "Alpha1 Gen 2" has an integral speedometer pickup,
so does a model they call the "Bravo"
From my research they seem to comprise 75% or so of the outdrive market, but
I have never heard of them.

Well I've heard of them, just never heard of the built in speedo pickup.
Mine's part of the depth finder transducer, has a little spinner wheel and
is electric. Thanks for the info. I haven't looked closely at the black
ones for several years. As for being an "obscure" make, well not right now,
but headed that way.

So you think OMC will make some stunning comeback from the grave?

I believe they're part of Volvo Penta now, and yes, I believe they will
eventually overtake the market. Unless black lowers their prices that is.

Interesting analysis. Brunswick's stock is up 53% since mid-March.
Apparently, it looks like more than a few people feel your prediction of
Merc fading into obscurity is a bit overstated.

Mine works fine on the mercruizer alpha1 on my boat but my
question is...........how accurate are they? Says my boat will
does wot 50mph and that was from brand new. Still does that with
2 years and 200 hours on it......
