Speedometer?
I have a speedometer in my dash. It is not working however because the
outside unit is missing. I suppose that the outside unit somehow measures some set suction pressure or some such thing. I would like to know if the outside sensor units are sold together with tubing separately from the gauge. i |

Are you sure you need an outside unit? Most modern outboards and I/O drives have the speedometer sensor in the lower units. Look for a small rubber tube at the front of the foot, check it for blockage or disconnect. I believe that I have a separate speedometer foot. i "Ignoramus31468" wrote in message a.com... Just what brand of Stern Drive uses an integral speedo pickup?

An obscure make called "Mercruiser"
Some model they call the "Alpha1 Gen 2" has an integral speedometer pickup, so does a model they call the "Bravo" From my research they seem to comprise 75% or so of the outdrive market, but I have never heard of them. Well I've heard of them, just never heard of the built in speedo pickup.
Mine's part of the depth finder transducer, has a little spinner wheel and is electric. Thanks for the info. I haven't looked closely at the black ones for several years. As for being an "obscure" make, well not right now, but headed that way. -- Steve ======================= Remove the not dot from my address to abuse my email box "bomar" wrote in message ... So you think OMC will make some stunning comeback from the grave?

I believe they're part of Volvo Penta now, and yes, I believe they will
eventually overtake the market. Unless black lowers their prices that is. -- Steve ======================= Remove the not dot from my address to abuse my email box "bomar" wrote in message ... Interesting analysis. Brunswick's stock is up 53% since mid-March. Apparently, it looks like more than a few people feel your prediction of Merc fading into obscurity is a bit overstated. |

Says my boat will does wot 50mph and that was from brand new. Still does that with 2 years and 200 hours on it...... John Searay 185br 2001 |
