Just to show that you don't have a damned clue what you are talking
about, the Holiday Inn balcony that collapsed wasn't the fault of
the
engineers of record. It was a construction change.

While the collapse at the Hyatt was caused by a design change that
violated
building codes, an engineering firm *did* stamp the changed plans.

lost their engineering licenses, a number of firms went bankrupt, and
many
expensive legal suits were settled out of court. In November, 1984,
Duncan,
Gillum, and G.C.E. International, Inc. were found guilty of gross
negligence, misconduct, and unprofessional conduct in the practice of
engineering. Subsequently, Duncan and Gillum lost their licenses to
practice
engineering in the State of Missouri (and later, Texas), and G.C.E.
had

certificate of authority as an engineering firm revoked."


Uh, sorry to burst your bubble, there, stupid person, BUT, Duncan and
Gillum were NOT the principal DESIGN engineers. They were acting as
owner's representitives. You see, on large scale projects, the design
engineer usually does not act as owner's rep., unless it is a
design-build project.
