I have never noticed Jessie using Ebonics, except when he wanted to, but it
is very possible he uses "AX" etc. Ebonics is very real, and is a problem that needs to be addressed. Comedy can be a very effective tool when addressing serious issues. I wonder why Gould and Harry have failed to hear Ebonics on TV, in movies, on hip hop and videos and in the real world. Is it possible that they are the racist? "Tim" wrote in message oups.com... The problem with this "joke" is that it perpetuates a myth that black people are unable to enunciate well. Look at Tim's comment in this thread. Jesse Jackson is very well spoken, but Tim was quick to hang this demeaning racial stereotype on Jackson. And people think that Bush is a bad speaker. Jesse uses phrases like "AX" for "ask" and "Ed-a-casin" instead of education..... BTW, did you ever watch much black rap or hip-hop videos? If not, you should....Now theres a true lesson in proper vernacular and grammar. |
