I hate to interrupt...
the political nonsense, but I've been having a ball in my tin boat the
past couple of days. http://www.swsports.org/images/tin.jpg http://www.swsports.org/images/boat.jpg This thing is a blast to run around in - I can't believe I didn't get one of these years ago. Later, Tom |

We are heading out at 5 pm today for an evening cruise and swim on our friends 26 foot Lyman. With temperatures today expected to top out at 92 F it will certainly be refreshing. |

I'm very seriously thinking of getting a 14-16 foot bare necessity boat
with a 25-40 horse outboard to hit the river with. great fuel economy and good for shallow depth. Plus if you hit something the engine bucks up, amd you don't rip the lower end off your I/O! Thanks for your post. I'm really getting tempted now. Tim |

I did a favor for a boat dealer last summer and this was the end result. I got the boat, electric start 25 hp tiller Johnson and trailer as part of the compensation. I ran it for about a hour last fall when I picked it up - it went from fall to winter in the space of a week last year, so I've been putting some time on it this "spring". I should have purchased one of these years ago. The entire boat/engine/trailer package is worth about $4,700 US - the trolling motor, X-85 (used) and batter adds another $250 and if you want to count the handheld chartplotter for another $850, the whole package is under $6,000. And I'll say one thing for Princecraft - this is a quality boat- almost in the Lund category. I'm very impressed with it. Later, Tom |

I guess you could say "my" very first boat was my Uncles 16 foot Lund that he used to let me run around Brown's Lake near Racine, WI. When we visited, that's where I headed straight from the car - start the old Evinrude and spend the afternoon on the lake. We are heading out at 5 pm today for an evening cruise and swim on our friends 26 foot Lyman. With temperatures today expected to top out at 92 F it will certainly be refreshing. Browns Lake? Burlington, WI! I kept my boat there for a few years when
I lived in N. Illinois. We had a lot of fun on that little lake. I even got to visit the Burlington Hospital one afternoon when my friend mistook "get the slack out" for "hit it!" and the ski rope broke my index finger. The marina is now a house or two, or three. What is/was the name of the bar/restaurant next door? Later, Tom About that trolling motor - is it a tight squeeze, trying to turn it one way or the other with the big motor there? I mean, room for the little motor's handle, if you know what I mean. I've been meaning to tow the Lund down to Gander Mountain, bring out a display motor, and see if it fits, but other chores keep getting in the way. |

With reverse, you really don't need to move the handle all that much to maneuver the boat. In this instance, I installed an electrical panel/distribution box for all the electronics stuff, put the battery and anchor in front of the boat for weight distribution and that was it. Works great. And 30lbs of thrust is more than enough to move the boat around and the power drain is minimal. Later, Tom |

Is the bow totally open, with no floor, or did you create a floor so you can mount the battery level? I have yet to decide on a plan for my boat which would accomplish this. Works great. And 30lbs of thrust is more than enough to move the boat around and the power drain is minimal. That's useful info. I've been using tea leaves to try and figure out what size to get, and the process has NOT been informative. More so than the personnel in the store, though. |
