Default carb cleaner?

there is also a liquid product dumped into the fuel tank that helps clean out
carbs, as in dirty carbs. Back in the days when carbs got dirty a lot (long
time back), carb cleaners were sold in large volume cans to repair garages and
such. You could buy smaller cans for use under a shade tree.

For water, Heet and similar products are what you want to use.

I can't remember for sure, but I think you are talking about a spray that you
use while the engine is running. It is sprayed directly into the carb air
intakes and cleans carbon out of the cylinders. I used it once on an old
Evinrude. I assume it worked because it turned the water in the tank black.

I heard some guys talking about some supposedly commonly available product

I
think was called "tuneup" or something similar to that---for outboards in
particular.

I take it that it's used when you get water to the engine through the fuel
line (which I think I did--from an aux tank). And yes, I've already

pulled
the strainer, purged the filter, etc. However, I thought i'd try a can or
bottle of whatever the stuff I was hearing about if someone can tell me

what
it likely is.
