Lower unit shift linkage has to be disconnected. Check to see if there is a
clevis pin on the drivers side of the motor behind the shift/throttle cable connections. Remove the pin and slide the mechanism out and the lower unit shift rod will disconnect. Most go ahead and remove the lower unit first as it is easier to reinstall the powerhead without the lower unit. -- Tony my boats and cars at http://t.thomas.home.mchsi.com "Darren Reader" wrote in message ... Hi, I've been working on my 90hp Johnson outboard this weekend and I've been trying to get the powerhead off the lower unit. I've got the generic shop manual and I think I have all the bolts/nuts off, but when I put it on the hoist, it won't break free? Is there something I'm missing? The shop manual doesn't have many pictures of the powerhead and lower unit seperating or really any good diagrams of how they actually connect. Has anyone come across a powerhead that seems to have "fused" to the lower unit? Looking for possible solutions. My 1st motor so please forgive my ignorance. Thanks in Advance, Darren |
