Default Alpha 1 prop seems loose??

Hello,

Anyone know if a little freeplay/movement on the prop normal on an Alpha
1?

Basically what I mean is I can wiggle the prop in and out a tiny bit in
neutral. I checked the prop which doesnt appear to be loose.

TIA!

Jim

Yes, there is supposed to be a little *TINY* bit of play. I'd say roughly
1/16"-1/8" of an inch, but no more. That's the way it is on my old 1975
Mercruiser 165hp I/O.

Normally the prop does not move, the prop shaft it is mounted on will have
some play front to back. That is probably what you are feeling. It should
have no side to side play. When it is underway the thrust from the prop
pushes the shaft to the front.
