Yes. Be more explicit about what you'll do when you see boating messages
which do not interest you. Can you master the difficult art of not looking?

If you're driving down a busy commercial strip looking for a hardware store
and see a dozen tanning parlors, none of which interest you, do you pull
into their parking lots and tell them they don't belong there? Or, do you
simply Not Look? :-)

Capt. Bill, you are one of the regulars who make great contributions to
technical questions concerning marine engines.

I like to think I make contributions to more than just the engine threads. :-)

It looks like you occasional
will get into the political topics,

Very rarely.

but that is not the main reason you
come. It appears that you come here is to discuss boats.

That and the fact that here you are free to speak your mind. Unlike moderated
forums.

What I have
never understood is why you view the newbies who come into the group and
complain about the signal to noise ratio, as being an OT whiner.

Because the for the most part they show up, post little or nothing about boats
and then start another OT thread about OT posts. There by adding to the OT
noise that they claim to hate so much.
It gets to the point where it's hard to find a good black kettle for all the
black pots piled on top of them.

The OT threads have gotten out of hand,

They seem to ebb and flow.

and they will probably never stop

You got that right.

but can't you understand when someone comes to rec.boats, they are amazed

Sure.
But they need to stick around and add to the OnT posts. Not the OT posts.

Even the people who crudely

majority of the OT discussions?

As has been expressed here and in most other newsgroups, these places are like
bars. If you don't like the conversation, move down a seat or two and start
your own.

I am not trying to get into an argument with you,

And you won't get one. :-)

I just can't figure out
why you find the "OT whiners" so outrageous?

I don't find them "outrageous," just mildly annoying in a humorous way.

Anyone who wants a moderated group should try posting something in rec.guns
that's not right out of the NRA party newspaper. I once tried to suggest
that pistol permits weren't such a bad idea. The message never made it "into
print". When I asked the moderator about it, he gave me some crap about my
email address being invalid. When I pointed out that he'd approved 3 other
messages from me, 2 before and 1 after the offending one, he didn't respond.
I've had similar experiences in rec.hunting.

Question: Would the "saner heads" be from Maryland and bumf*ck Canada?

;^P

That's nice for a family show!

Family show?

Yes..as in wives and kids.

I've seen posters mention that their spouses tune in from time to time.
Not a suitable place for Texas 'Roadhouse' language.

mother****er"

Really? But Cinemax, Showtime and HBO are all okay though?

How about Disney produced movies with similar language?

This is just as suitable a place as any for freedom of speech.
Sorry if y'all don't believe in that up there in Canada Don.

Women are not some frail objects that need to be protected
from what you view as objectionable speech.

Should I sic Ellen, Rosie and Whoopie on you?

Chuck promised not to post for 90 days (I think). I miss him. He had a
pretty cool head, and he didn't call me nasty names.

Asshole.

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, you did it. Now b'asskisser will be after your ass wanting to know
just exactly what a rofl is and where you can prove its definition.

I'm just gonna sit back a laugh my ass off.

Once he latches on, you can't get rid of him. You blew it big time.
Don't ask for any sympathy either!

You stupid, stupid soul. I'm beginning to feel sorry for you. Truly
pathetic. You just don't understand, do you? YOU, John, are the one,
who, when you can't debate a subject, turn to spelling, grammar, etc.
YOU, John.

I appears to me that debating with someone who is incapable of
discerning boats from politics is a waste of time, its like debating
with a schizophrenic.

Unfortunatly, I think this should be kept as a boating website, not a

place to
debate political issues! I'm sure that political sites out there abound.

This
is how I would handle it : boating stays with boating !!!!! political

stays
with political !!!!! S o u l d I b e m o r e e x p l i c i t e ?

Can Mr Kanter master the difficult art of being able to tell boats from politics?
