Default Does Boat Color Matter For Fishing

Thanks a lot Tom for letting me know this. So far I feel good about the
purchase I've made now. I really appreciate all the feedback.

There are two theory's about this - and about as many qualifications
to those theories as there are people who fish and study fishing.

My personal opinion is that you buy the boat that you like. If you
are happy with the way the boat looks, then you will probably be happy
period and have a good time with it.

I can attest to this personally - I purchased a used 2001 Ranger 200C
Sportfisherman with low hours over a brand new 2300 Bay Ranger because
(1) It was white with blue accents and georgeous looking on the
trailer and (2) it was white with blue accents and georgeous looking
in the water. To use a phrase, it looks like it wants to go fast and
catch fish. I would have preferred the 2300, but the available colors
were gaudy and the boat looked like a box on the trailer and in the
water. And after two years with it, I really like it and won't trade
up for a 2300 unless they get really radical with the styling for the
2005 year.

My Contender 31 is deep blue with white accents and is beautiful. It
just sits in the water and - wait for it, wait for it - looks like it
wants to go fast and catch fish. :)

My point is that it's a personal choice. I catch as many game fish in
my Contender as white/green/yellow/purple or "off" color boats and
it's the same in the Ranger.

If you like the white, get the white. Your psyche will suffer less
trauma and you will be much happier.

The fish won't mind. :)

For fishing, I don't think the color makes a differance.

But, you should definately go with white or some light color. The
problem with dark colored hulls is that, over time, the sun will
bleach out the color, and then the boat just looks old. You can only
buff it out so much. Ask all the guys that bought the dark blue 31
Rampages years ago, their all painted by now. You have to get use to
your boat looking bad, or you paint the hull, not cheap or easy. If
left as is, be prepared to take a good hit on the price when it comes
time to sell the boat.
