Yep it happens all over the globe. Tho its generally called boat management.
In the case of one wealthy TV and Movie Magnates son he has a paid guy to
move his Swan 57 from place to place and ensure its upkeep. I remember
"sympathising" with the guy once. He had to take the boat to Hamilton Island
in the Whitsunday group (QLD AUST) and remain with it for about three
months..

But you had better know your ropes to get that sort of deal.

Realistically tho. Boat sitting is done on a daily basis by marinas world
wide. That's what they are there for.

The founder of www.findacrew.net used to do that professionally
himself, and yes he spend also about 6 weeks on Hamilton Island (QLD)
with a yacht.

You can list as a crew or a boat member on www.findacrew.net to do
exactly that if you wish apart from sailing, passages, deliveries
etc...

Thanks I though so but wasnt exactly sure as there are different ways to
figure it always.
Also though I'd like that type of position I wouldn't be so inclined to put
myself at the mercy of someone. I believe that though I am doing fine
stateside since there are responsibilities, financial and security issues
(as there are expenses everywhere and pirates in some parts of the globe
[and plain thieves elsewhere]) I would require a contract for secure terms
of employ and severence.

In the past I have been bonded for over 1 million $ US (due to a security
position as courier though that may be difficult now due to the
circumstances arising from a confrontation). I am interested as I am
currently semi-retired and doing some writing.
