My 1986 after a few years had the drive shaft bind. Took a lot of
penetrating oil sprayed in after I beat the unit down a little to get some access. I used a wooden block against the foot. Bill "Red Cloud©" wrote in message ... Okay, what's the secret? I've done this job before on other makes, and all I had to do was remove 4 bolts and disconnect the shifter, and the lower unit would seperate pretty easily after a couple of blows with a rubber mallet. This 1992 9.9 Yamaha seems to need something else. The factory service manual doesn't really have much prose on the subject. Just an exploded view and a list of the order to remove things. I know this motor was apart for a water pump just a little over 2 years ago. Is there something else I need to do, or is this sucker just plain stuck? red |
