I see nothing wrong with taking an animal for food.

Seal meat is delicious! It's right up there with deer meat and caribou.
Hunting for food & fur for clothing has been a tradition for the people
of
Newfoundland for centuries.

I have no objections to people who hunt animals and kill them for meat in
order to provide food for the table they cannot obtain at a supermarket
because they haven't the funds or because they live in isolated areas. I
also have no objections to those who hunt because they need to wear the
skins or fur of the animals they kill.

Commercial seal hunting - hunting wild animals for fur, as it were - is
not an activity I find acceptable.

Not only that, the seals compete with fishermen for the few cod still
swimming out there.
The original poster should question the ranchers outside Yellowstone

Park
why they want to kill the wolves Canada was generous enough to donate a
while back.

How about the hunting outfitters outside jellystone? All gone along with
the wild elk and bison.

Sure cure for wolves, 3 s, shoot, shovel, shut up

If you don't want them...send them back. They were perfectly happy here &
didn't ask to immigrate to the states.

Then you must get violently upset about the two major reasons they're

killed,
i.e., their pelts and their penises!

Hmm, let's see if I can understand you logic.....nope. So, I'll ask.
You've stated that because I see nothing wrong with taking an animal
for food, that I "MUST get violently upset" if they are used for any
other reason? What in hell has made you come to that conclusion???? Be
specific, John. I'd really like to know how your mind comes to such a
thought, and then interprets it to be a "must".

You expect the "King of the NG idiots" to understand logic??????

Well, then, John, do tell! I've asked you to be explicit. What would
make you think that I'd "get violently upset" about seals being killed
for "their pelts and their penises".

Fritz, I see that you are the only one in this whole newsgroup who's
not decided to act like an adult.
Now, seeing how you think YOU understand Herring's logic, do tell, what
would make him think that I'd "get violently upset about the two major
reasons they're killed, i.e., their pelts and their penises!"?

You have shown no evidence of trying harder.

I've seen the Newfoundlanders sell seal flippers right on the waterfront in
St. John's as a delicacy. I've also seen the seal skin garments and
trinkets. I've never eaten or bought anything made of seal but many people
apparently like to.
BTW the Norwegians were also regular hunters, although I'm not sure if they
have continued. The thing is...it's no worse than snaring rabbits or using
the leghold traps for other game.
