![]() "Bear" wrote in message ... I have a Evinrude 48 spl that idles and revs fine in neutral but when I put it in gear it just chugs and has no power. Any thoughts? Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you. Assuming that the compression and ignition are OK and has been tested, most likely the problem is with the carburetors gummed up internally and/or the linkage and adustments. You need a service manual to do things right. A rare but possible occurance is that the inner magnet of the flywheel came loose and change the timing of the motor. You have to remove the flywheel with the proper puller and try to twist the magnet assembly to see if there is any movement. Bill Grannis service manager |
