Still cheap though. |

And when a motor finally kicks it, you can hang a new one on the back and go out fishing the very next day. I'm a huge outboard fan...especially for boating the shallow waters of southwest Florida. |

Both efficiency and wear are related to engine speed. Friction increases with the square of velocity, so a slow revving diesel will consume less fuel and last longer at 2000 rpm than an engine running at 5000+ rpm. The downide is weight, but this is only a problem on small boats. |
