If a doctor is Canada is underpaid, he has no one to blame but himself. Doctors in Canada are not, as you seem to fantasize, employees of the state. They are self-employed. They do whatever work they please and send in their bills. Just like doctors in the US. There are also procedures and services that are not covered by medical insurance - just like in the US. The only difference is that in the US, insurance is for-profit, in Canada, it is not-for-profit and is run by the government. Mike |
