Resume safe speed sign?

Would people understand if I had a sign on my boat that said resume safe speed?
I was thinking something like the "resume safe normal operation" done with
green graphics.
I go slow a lot and my neighbors like to go fast. It seems that when they pass
me they always give me a "courtesy slow down" which puts them in a plow and
rolls me. Waving them on doesn't help. How do you say, "Maintain your plane"?
Actually I think if it got common, a simple flag would work. Maybe a green
circle on a white field?
There are some folks who do know about boats and pass at speed but they are not
the rule..

I take it using the radio doesn't work. So I guess making a flag/sign of some
kind might. But I think you'd have to spell it out for them.

Because you've got to be the first person I've seen who's trying to get people
to speed up as they go passed them. :-)

Be careful what you ask for because there are quite a few boats out
there that you really don't want passing at speed. If you want to be
passed with minimal wake, slow waaaay down, almost to a crawl before
the faster boat overtakes you. That way someone can go by you in a
reasonable length of time at "no wake speed" which is typically 6 to 7
knots for a larger boat.

If you continue to go 6 to 9 knots yourself, the faster boat has no
alternative but to follow, or throw a large wake. A heavy 50 footer
leaves very little wake at 7 knots, but 3 feet plus at 10 knots.

The boater is still responsible for his wake. The point is the wake is
generally lower on plane than it will be at the "courtesy" speed these folks
choose.

There are lots of cases where I am stopped.

The 50 footers are not the problem. It is usually a 18' bow rider that rocks me
by passing at the worst possible speed.

How big is your boat?

I can see your problem. A pontoon boat in that situation can be a
little twitchy.

I'm not sure a sign is going to do you much good.

Not at all. Be glad you don't have to contend with 50 ft sportfish or
motor yachts with tsunami sized wakes.

Most of the time I am in ~3' of water. I doubt those motor yachts will be that
big a problem.
