![]() Some Guy wrote: "basskisser" wrote in message ....is either a traitor, or treasonous. Pray, explain the distinction. No problem. Treason is a traitorous act, and a traitor is the person committing the traitorous act. If you have any other questions such as the above, perhaps you can look them up at dictionary.com, to save yourself some embarrassment. |

![]() "basskisser" wrote in message No problem. Treason is a traitorous act, and a traitor is the person committing the traitorous act. That much is obvious, but your chosen usage belies a poor grasp of your [presumably] native language, if not, as so often in the past, the facts of a particular issue. Your original quote was "...Yeah, yeah, anybody who doesn't goose step to the party is either a traitor, or treasonous..." So, this particular person is either a traitor or treasonous. As the two words are merely different form of the same root, the former the noun and the latter the adjective, your statement is akin to saying "That car is either red or red". A traitor has, by implication, performed a treasonous act. One who has performed a treasonous act is, by definition, a traitor. Given that your statement makes no sense in the original format, my query was simply an attempt to ascertain your intended meaning. Perhaps a pointless endeavor. ...perhaps you can look them up at dictionary.com, to save yourself some embarrassment. Hmmm. Yes, perhaps. |

Your original quote was "...Yeah, yeah, anybody who doesn't goose step to the party is either a traitor, or treasonous..." So, this particular person is either a traitor or treasonous. As the two words are merely different form of the same root, Nope. Treason IS the root. Traitor is the root of traitorous. the former the noun and the latter the adjective, your statement is akin to saying "That car is either red or red". A traitor has, by implication, performed a treasonous act. One who has performed a treasonous act is, by definition, a traitor. See above. a traitor is "one who betrays one's country, a cause, or a trust, especially one who commits treason." Treason, on the other hand is "violation of allegiance toward one's country or sovereign, especially the betrayal of one's country by waging war against it or by consciously and purposely acting to aid its enemies. A betrayal of trust or confidence." So, all of that being said, you could be a traitor, by betraying your country, without being guilty of treason. Given that your statement makes no sense in the original format, my query was simply an attempt to ascertain your intended meaning. Perhaps a pointless endeavor. As proved above, it makes great sense. ...perhaps you can look them up at dictionary.com, to save yourself some embarrassment. Hmmm. Yes, perhaps. If you would, you'd know that my original sentence, "Yeah, yeah, anybody who doesn't goose step to the party is either a traitor, or treasonous" used both correctly. |

I see the same cowards are still on a boat group spouting treasonous
****. The best part is by 2009 Republicans could have up to 80% of the Senate and Congress. Jeb Bush will be President. The intelligent left (hard to believe but there are some) is starting to see President Bush is right. KKKrause and asskisser with there canadian butt buddy are hating it. Patriots in the superbowl and terrorist loving, baby killers crying. Life is good! Bob **************** Between the traitors and fascists, it's truly amazing we ever get around to discussing boats, isn't it? Thanks for elevating the tone of the NG with your intelligent, boating related comments. |
