Anybody excited about the Chinese cars Bricklin plans to import? I owned a Russian 'Lada' in the early '80s & it was fun to drive (if you like the retro thing). My wife had a Yugo - that's about all I'll say about that. It's interesting that the former Yugo factory now makes Century tractors which is a great product. As long as we are talking strange vehicles, there is a farmer here in town who has a Beloruss tractor - one of the zillion four cylinder, 75 hp diesel tractors produced during the great era of single source Communism in the former USSR. They were the great horse of agricultural communism being, at once, the family go-to-town vehicle, the plow horse, the hay horse, the manure spreader - everything that a farm vehicle does, it did. It was his everyday tractor for a long time, but recently the beast has developed parts disease - they are getting harder and harder to find. Eventually he will run out of his own set of spares and it will go to tractor heaven, but it won't die because it was built shoddily. |
