You took a class in operating a VHS at the Power Squadron? :) It's one or the other... over .....to let the other participant have the airwaves out........to sign off. Was he right? Technically, that is correct. Let's say that you and I are conversing. If I say over and out, that indicates that the last transmission is yours - I am clear of the channel once your transmission is ended. Later, Tom |

You better go back to school and relearn this part. Where you day dreaming or smoking the hooch when they taught you that particular lesson? "Short Wave Sportfishing" wrote in message ... If it requires a response from you, then it's over. If transmission is reinitiated, then you go back to square one in protocol. If the question does not require a end response from you, then over and out. However, all this is mute because anybody who has ever listened to marine VHF along the east or west coast, it's as bad as CB. :) Later, Tom - waiting for some CB'er to flame me. |

I live in a major seaport/naval base and sometimes turn on my handheld and scan 5 or 6 channels just to see what's going on. 95% of the time it's very professional and quiet time occurs at least 70 % of the time. We also have a Coast Guard base here so this might encourage the locals to behave. |

"P.Fritz" wrote in message ... Calling anything that far north 'major' is the equivalent of asslicker calling Atlanta a 'world class city' LMAO Well Fritz, I hope you really had a good laugh over our North. I think that even you could call a city that is the fifth largest in North America, a "Major" city. That city is Toronto, Canada..... Halifax is the largest port on the eastern seaboard of North America and it's port handles over 15 million metric tonnes of cargo every year. I would say that is "Major" wouldn't you? Jim Carter |

P.Fritz wrote: Calling anything that far north 'major' is the equivalent of asslicker calling Atlanta a 'world class city' LMAO Hey, Fritz, here's an idea. How about, instead of laughing your lonely ass off, or childish name calling, why don't you actually say something of substance? For a start, I listed many, many reasons why Atlanta is a world class city. You've done NOTHING to dispute that, except, because you are bitter over your wife leaving you, resort to childish name calling. Care to try now? |
