Happy boating ============ Norm What's the name of the novel? (Just got to Florida and need something to do other than mowing the lawn) Eisboch |

not surprising at all, juney -- fumb duck that he is -- completely missed all
but two words from 8 posts and he shows it thusly: From: "Gene Kearns" Date: 12/3/2004 7:06 PM Eastern Standard Time Message-id: On 03 Dec 2004 23:54:18 GMT, (JAXAshby) wrote: left coast nuter billie admits he doesn't know knot from knots per hour, but does find it incredible that jet airliners travel at the incredible speed of 175 knots per hour thusly: Since a knot is defined as "one nautical mile per hour," I guess you are trying to express some form of acceleration in "knots per hour." If you get too bored with all this fine weather, drive over to Cape Coral and I'll let you practice on my brightwork. Mrs E's GB will need a LOT of attention in that respect, mine sure does. |

I figure I'll learn by studying your fine example. The only nice thing about wrapping it up for the winter is that you don't have to look at it again until spring. Actually, Mrs. E. is still up north, wrapping up her "purchase" and enjoying the beginning of the holiday season with the kids and grandkids. I got bored and decided to drive the landyacht down to Jupiter by myself and then fly back for Christmas, only to return again shortly thereafter. I made the big mistake of trying to drive via the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel. After 12 hours getting there, they wouldn't let me cross due to high winds. Got to Jupiter today at 1 pm. I forgot how nice it is here in the winter. Eisboch |

Eisboch There really isn't a winter in Florida, just "lesser summer", right? Probably opposite the Upper Left, where we don't really experice a summer, just a bit less winter. :-) |

It gets cool at night - air conditioners get a rest for a few months. Days are typically in the mid 70's throughout Dec, Jan, and Feb. with no humidity. By the second or third week in March, it starts to get warmer with slowly increasing humidity. It was interesting driving down I-95 and seeing some of the remaining effects of the hurricanes. Many trees along the road are still bent at a 45 degree angle and many, many homes with blue tarp roofs. Eisboch |

Jaxasshole admits he is stupid as a rock. Why do you not think a jetliner
can travel at 175 (shorthand knots) knots per hour (kph)? Takeoff and landing is at about 160 in most of the heavys. Bill, I agree he's dumb as dirt, but a "knot" is not referred to as "per hour" & kph usually refers to kilometers per hour most everywhere that is metric which is most everywhere except the US. A knot is special in the sense it's a measure of time combined with distance in itself (when a board is thrown astern with an attached rope, so many knots 47.25ft apart, passed in 28 seconds) or 0.5144444 m/s or 1.688888 f/s or 1.853 kph or it's a minute of latitude on the earth's surface traveled in one hour. It's true @ 1 knot you will have traveled 6080ft or 1 nautical mile in an hour & then you could express that as a speed of 1 nautical mile per hour or 1 knot, never 1 knot per hour:-) K Takeoff and landing is at about 160 in most of the heavys.
