One one river trip, we had the Designated Canary - like the ones in mines. It
was the "DC"'s job to lead point on the trail. By picking the largest person to be the DC, you are assurred that everyone else can safely step where ever the DC had without losing footing, etc. Haven't lost a DC yet. --- Blakely LaCroix Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Close, but not close enough... :-) Read the thread a litle bit further up: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Stay in the whitewater! The alligators stay out of the fast moving current. LOL. However, they are waiting for you in that calm spot at the end... Swim upstream. Hard. Never paddle alone. Always bring a friend. A slow, juicy friend. ;) ROFL! We ought to make a formally designated spot on rivertrips (sort of like the DD: Designated Driver) the "SJF". It'd be funnier yet if only a few people knew what it stood for. :-D --riverman ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Wilko van den Bergh wilko(a t)dse(d o t)nl Eindhoven The Netherlands Europe ---Look at the possibilities, don't worry about the limitations.--- http://wilko.webzone.ru/ |
