![]() We lost our cat a year ago September. I still miss that beast. I miss playing and getting scratched. I miss the little monster jumping up into my lap and then kneeding my belly & leggs - it hurt but the cat would go into such a trance - it was a trip to see. RIP Kitty. RIP Catty Wampus. "Harry Krause" wrote in message news:1100745415.+CHekCv/8UAn6+rzbHdbPQ@teranews... CattyWampus 1988-2004 CattyWampus, our much-loved creamy orange American shorthair cat, died peacefully in her sleep at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, November 17th, after our veterinarian injected her with a sedative overdose. ‘Wampus was suffering from cancer, which our vet believes resulted from the side effect of a rabies vaccination in popular use when she was a kitten. There was no hope that surgery, radiation or chemotherapy would have helped her. In the last few days, an infection erupted near the old vaccination spot; it did not respond to antibiotics, and it was spreading rapidly. ‘Wampus lost her appetite, and we decided she had suffered enough. ‘Wampus was born in Fairfax County, Virginia, and was adopted by us from a shelter while still a kitten. She proved to be the smartest cat we have ever known, and had numerous endearing qualities, including personal fastidiousness and the sweetest-smelling fur this side of pet heaven. ‘Wampus was well-traveled. In her youth, she journeyed to Florida, to help her mom, my wife, obtain a Master’s Degree. She proved her worth during numerous mathematical and logic exams, when she would climb into a book bag, and in the exam room whisper answers to the toughest questions to her mom. ‘Wampus was award a Doctor of Petology on the same day her mom received a Master’s. After finishing up that degree, the entire family lived in Northeast Florida for about five years, then moved back to Fairfax County, and then, finally, to Southern Maryland. ‘Wampus kept her job as tutor while her mom continued to excel academically. CattyWampus had a good, decent life, which is all any of us can expect. She is survived by her grieving mom and dad, by her sister, Madeline, and by her brothers, Casper, BobCat, Sam, Panda, and Muffin. An older brother, Arnold, preceded her in death. Burial will be in a grassy knoll adjacent to a forest next to her home in Southern Maryland. We will miss CattyWampus terribly. She leaves a void that cannot be filled. Please adopt a stray cat. They have nothing to give but love. All our cats were once homeless or strays. |

Since our youngest son moved out 1st September, our 13 year old calico cat seems to be taking a shine to me. I can't go get a bowl of ice cream to enjoy in my lazyboy without her jumping up on my lap to stare as each spoonful disappears. Sometimes I tease it by moving the spoonfull closer to her while saying 'mmmmmm and then quickly pulling it away to pop into my mouth. For some reason the wife doesn't think this is funny. |

From: "Gary Warner" I miss the little monster jumping up into my lap and then kneeding my belly & leggs - it hurt but the cat would go into such a trance - it was a trip to see. Mine drools when she does that. If she wasn't mine, I'd hate it. :-) Capt. Bill |

I'm sorry, Harry.
There are few things in this world I love more than Cats. You had a good, long time with her. Cats do not declare their love much; they enact it, by their myriad invocations of our pleasure. -Vicki Hearne "Harry Krause" wrote in message news:1100745415.+CHekCv/8UAn6+rzbHdbPQ@teranews... Regrets about the passing of your kitty. We lost ours a few years ago and I still see him out of the corner of my eye once in awhile, usually poised to jump up on my keyboard as he was known to do. |
