Anything in particular we should watch for in the survey?

Just thought of something else. Find out what kind of transmission it has.
Parts for some of the old Borg Warners can be hard to impossible to get.

Thanks, Capt'.

This is great. I've got a good list going for the surveyor.

understand the little diesel in the GB burns around 3 gal/per
hour at 6-8kts, rising rapidly to 12 gal per hour WOT at a
wind-in-your-face 11-12kts.

No way! A 120 Lehman can not burn 12 gals per hour even at WOT into the wind.

If her GB is set up to back to port,

Every single screw GB with a 120 Lehman in it I've been on has had a left hand
prop. So they tend to pull to the starboard in reverse.

We have a company in Seattle that cuts a large
inspection hole in the side of the tank,
gets inside and cleans everything up, and then epoxies the interior to seal
up
any leaks.

Could you pass along their contact info Chuck?
A lot of the GB's at least had the door

and
window frames painted out, reducing maintenance there considerably.

GBs of that age came standard with painted window frames and gelcoat outside
door skins as I recall.

You can also mount a small electric winch on the boom and use it for
hoisting the dink to the cabin top.

You should only do that if you add a second set of stays.

I think this one has painted white window frames - I think they are
aluminum. I'll go look at it - the boat is about 8 slips down from
where I am on the Navigator.

Eisboch (just noticed - it's starting to spit snow out there)

If they are aluminum take a good look at and in the window tracks. Check the
condition of the felting.

What kind of genset does it have?

Be sure to run it and go lay down in the aft cabin and see what you think about
the noise and vibration.

Is it a split berth lay out or a island bed?

I went down and took a good look, (in the rain/sleet/snow).

The window frames are very thick and white - either painted wood or some
kind of very hard PVC or fiberglass. I really can't tell what the
material is as I only looked from outside the boat. The painted aluminum
I saw were screens that are attached to the port and starboard window
frames.

The door is definitely fiberglass with a gel coat.
