If we cannot re-establish a compact between corporations and workers, the best thing to do is **** the shareholders. A man or woman's hours, days, weeks, months, and years of labor are worth as much as anyone's money. A man or woman's labor are certainly of worth, but loyalty is a two way street. Our work culture has changed whereby current employment is regarded by many as a stepping stone in one's career, rather than *being* a career. Personal achievement or growth has become more important than being a contributing member of a team. I know in the business I ran, this was the biggest "people" problem we had to deal with and we were quick to weed out those that could not grasp the team concept. A secret to success is to make yourself valuable and that value usually increases in time. Speaking of teams ... Sox up 4-2, top of the 4th. Eisboch |
