Default laser deck repair advice needed

I have a laser 1 that has broken on the deck around the mast entry point.
The cracks go right through the deck and there are 4 of them radiating in
all directions, the worst being about 7 inches long. The tube that the
mast sits in has seperated.
Best methods of repair please!!

You must have an old Laser. Most likely the mast step parted from the hull
and the deck area cracked.
Laser used to have a replacement deck/mast step kit. Call Laser and order
one.
Otherwise you would have to put two large inspection ports around the mast
step and repair that way.

That happened to mine years ago.
Down in the S.F. Bay Area, I believe on Alameda Isl. there was/is a guy by
the name of Duesenburg; a hot shot repair guy. He put in an inspection port
next to the centerboard hole, wrapped the mast tube and reinforced the mast
step. I have not had any more problems since then and the port (with port
bag) makes a GREAT place to put sandwich, drink, keys and wallet !
It all is a relatively easy fix IF YOU GO TO THE RIGHT PERSON/PLACE.

Cutting out mast area seems a little extreme; mine was fixed internally.

Thanks for the advice. The repair section seems the best option due to the
severity of the damage. Unfortunately it seems to be not available in the
UK anymore. FedEx quoted over $250 to ship it, almost doubling its price!

Seems I may have to make something up. Has anyone fitted this section who
can desribe it? Or is it avaiable more locally?

That seems like an incredibly high price. The part that I think you need
should fit into a box that is less than 24"x24"x18".
that shouldn't be that expensive.
good luck.
