Mercruiser 350 Magnum Overspeed Alarm
Hello,
We just picked up a new boat with the 350 Magnum engine. The engine now has only 21 hours on it. Yesterday, we were going through a no wake area and I pulled the the lever back to neutral. At that point, alarms started ringing that the engine was overspeed and need to reduce throttle. A strange alarm when you are at 650 RPM. All other gauges were reading normal, but the engine was running very rough. It did stall, but after checking all of the fluids and restarting, it was back to normal. I'll mention it to the dealer when I get back there, but I wanted to see if this was a common issue and what the problem might be. We are coming from a 1990 boat, so we are not used to all of these electronic system monitors Interesting stuff, but I think I preferred not knowing the GPH fuel use. This engine seems to burn more fuel than our old 5.7L, 260 HP. Thanks, Dave |
