Hello,
We just picked up a new boat with the 350 Magnum engine. The engine now has only 21 hours on it. Yesterday, we were going through a no wake area and I pulled the the lever back to neutral. At that point, alarms started ringing that the engine was overspeed and need to reduce throttle. A strange alarm when you are at 650 RPM. All other gauges were reading normal, but the engine was running very rough. It did stall, but after checking all of the fluids and restarting, it was back to normal. I'll mention it to the dealer when I get back there, but I wanted to see if this was a common issue and what the problem might be. We are coming from a 1990 boat, so we are not used to all of these electronic system monitors ![]() not knowing the GPH fuel use. This engine seems to burn more fuel than our old 5.7L, 260 HP. Thanks, Dave |

Thanks, Dave check all of your battery connections, both at the battery, the starter and the post on the flywheel housing. if your battery has butterfly nuts pull them off and throw them into the trash and replace them with ss nylocks. double check your battery is of the correct capacity, typically thats 800cca. modern ignition/fuel delivery systems are voltage sensitive. |

(I pulled the lever back to neutral... overspeed and need to reduce
throttle.) Not a good thing to do as you should only put the unit in neutral when at idle. "BenC" wrote in message om... David Patnaude wrote in message ... It was at idle, in forward gear, moving at headway speed. Another boat slowed in front, so shifted to neutral and the alrms started going off. The engine was Never overspeed, but that was the alarm. |
