There will be a storm surge. Hurricanes are low pressure cells. When I
went through Betsy in Biloxi in 1965, we had about a 9' surge. And we were
75 miles from the eye. They will get both a surge from the low pressure,
and from the wind piling up the water. Same reason that Bengladesh has such
terrible floods. The prevailing winds blow the water in to land.

hoary, five foot waves can NOT exist in three to four foot deep water

without
breaking, therefore

out a half mile to
nearly a mile

can not happen.

nice try, hoary.

You are just too easy Krause.

billie, one can not get 4 foot waves in 3 foot deep water. one can't get 4
foot waves even in 9 foot deep water. or even 20 foot deep water. or 30 foot
deep water.

it don't make a rip what the storm surge is or is not.

Harry,
Don't you hate having to use a sock puppet to respond to me. It would be so
much easier if you had not said you had me filtered. Obviously, my barbs
are getting under your skin. If my comments are cheap shots, what are
yours?

True, but it will be nothing but a weak tropical storm by the time it get to
his area. No storm surge from it Bill.

I have been looking for information on the devastation in the Bay area, the
storm surge wiping out downtown Baltimore, 5' waves funning through the
streets of Annapolis, a lobster boat being tossed about, homes falling into
the bay, or even a boat or two with scuff marks, whatever. Nothing, nada.
It must be a right wing conspiracy.

Anyone caught in a thunderstorm on the bay has probably been in 5-6 footers,
or
worse.

not from a thunderstorm they haven't. t-storms don't last long enough to make
5 foot let alone 6 foot waves.

Unless, one is telling the story in a bar later.
