I vented about my 100hp Yamaha oputboard with 900 hours on them, both, requiring major engine repairs in another thread. I got a very humorous reply about how I "must have bought a lemon". BWAHAHAHAHA. Got me thinking though, is 900 hours a lot of hours for a $8000-9000 engine? Maybe my expectations are too high. But darn, if I put 300 hours a year on my boat, should I only expect the engines to last about 3 years? Is the very funny gentleman who replied correct? Should I cash in my ocean going lifestyle for a set of golf clubs?? :-( 300 hrs a year?? in Phil? area that's over 10 hrs per week in the season being generous & 2 X 100 Hp is what?? minimum 20 kt cruise?? Unless you're a commercial user how do you manage to rack that many hours up??? Anyway just asking. K |
