When Grobbel's buys it they get them in a huge crate unpackaged.
I would expect they're all that way at one point or another.
Just the fact that it is true makes it apparent the big corned beef
producers are getting a deal. I am not really seeing the differences
you are talking about tho unless it is a St Patty's day sale and they
are using the corned beef as a loss leader.
Typically it seems the corned beef and raw brisket price is similar,
certainly within a buck a pound depending on which is on sale that
week.
They do sell the corned beef really cheap around St Patty's day. I
usually get a couple and freeze them
That is like the 49 cent/lb turkeys on Thanksgiving. I bet that is
less than Giant's cost on a frozen turkey. They just want you to fill
your cart with things they are making money on. .
I have a 49 cent/lb turkey in my freezer as we speak. (from the
Christmas sale) I ate my last St Patty's day corned beef in the summer
last year.
