I tried those FM modulators years ago and they sucked. I have beendoing this "MP3 in your car thing" since 1999 using all sorts
ofinterfaces. A tape adapter is better than the FM modulator. I have real in dash
MP3 players in everything now but I do miss myPCs.None of these make it easy to select songs. My PC responded to a 10key pad, juke box style, same as the tiki bar and the ones on my TVs.

I have a very small bluetooth keyboard that will bluetooth to your
player with a screen. You can glue it to your dashboard or
steering wheel if you choose. Made by ARTECK and available on
Amazon.

None of the players I have seen respond to a keypad input to call
songs by number. That is even true of most PC based players. There
is/was a plug in for Winamp but it is pretty clunky.
OTOH my DOS player MPXPLAY uses keypad entry natively. You can pick
songs one at a time or stack them jukebox style. In the Tiki Bar it is
connected to a 3W1 in addition to a couple of wireless key pads
scattered around and some "next" buttons that spin the randomizer
wheel..

My least favorite app, Apple Music, lets you set up a playlist with
songs in whatever order you like, and play that on your car system. But
I suppose there are several apps that can do that. I recall reading some
months ago that WinAmp was undergoing revival. I always liked that app.
