25th Ammendment, Section 4
It looks like we may be getting close:
--- Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President. --- Reports from Whitehouse insiders indicate that Trump's behavior is growing increasingly eratic and unhinged. That's obviously a dangerous situation. Let's keep our fingers crossed that we get through to inaugaration without major incident. https://www.axios.com/trump-white-house-conspiracy-theories-d95450a4-c7a3-4579-a568-0473b18529c9.html |

Trying to prosecute a President for what he did in office, will open up a huge can of worms. Maybe even get lots of the Legislative Branch tossed. People will say, where were the checks and balances? You people failed! So we want you gone and maybe even prosecuted. I have more confidence in the Attorney General of New York State, where Trump's state crimes are not pardonable by a POTUS. It would be a grin to see NYS Troopers waiting outside Trump Tower with an arrest warrant for the Trumpster. This is the most Whitehouse drama that we've seen since the Nixon proceedings. Nixon was a piker of a thug comparied to Trump. Trump incites violence against the government, against politicians, against ordinary people. I think he ought to be impeached again by the House and it could be done by voice vote. I saw three or four windows broken. The breakers should go to jail. But don't call the tens of thousands of peaceful protestors 'rioters'! === Ummm, no. It was worse than that, much worse. I'm not sure what you've been watching but there is some pretty alarming video out there of the senate chambers being swarmed, doors being broken down, police being assaulted. Members of congress were forced to retreat to a safe area. Peaceful my ass, and they were encouraged by Trump himself. Mostly CNN. They were the funniest with the lies and bull****. The incident yesterday paled in comparison to the riots all summer long. Yes, some glass was broken and a few got into the capital. Folks got into the Senate chambers. Did you see any looting or wanton destruction? No. I saw not one door broken down, although the glass in one door was broken. Members of Congress were not 'forced' to do anything. The Capital Police don't 'force' members of Congress. This paled compared to the riots this summer. Of course, in your opinion those were all 'peaceful protests'. You and Wolf Blitzer, and Harry, belong in the same room. === I have never supported rioting by anyone or for any reason. You need to watch something other than Fox news. Members of congress were forced to retreat to a safe area. Peaceful my ass, and they were encouraged by Trump himself. It is time for Trump to go, and let Pence take over until Biden is inaugurated. Trump can do a lot more damage to this country in the two weeks he has left in office. === I agree that he must go, the question is how. Pence could make him a pardon deal but that would only impact federal charges. If the two new senators from Georgia were seated immediately that would give the Dems a shot at another impeachment proceeding but I'm not sure how that's going to work. The threat of a 25th ammendment proceeding might be enough to force a resignation with a pardon promise. Stay tuned and pass the popcorn. This is the most Whitehouse drama that we've seen since the Nixon proceedings. Nixon was a piker of a thug comparied to Trump. Trump incites violence against the government, against politicians, against ordinary people. I think he ought to be impeached again by the House and it could be done by voice vote. No need for long hearings. But even a Dem controlled Senate couldn't remove him from office. An agreement among senior government officials to not enact anything Trump wants in the remaining two weeks would be helpful. I don't know if the the Repubs would go for activation of the 25th Amendment. Trump has done great harm to this country. He needs to pay for it within the legal system. As an aside, the treatment received by Trump's mostly white thugs yesterday was a hell of a lot different than a gang of blacks might have received storming the Capitol. They shot an unarmed woman. What is worse than that? |

The Capital Police don't 'force' members of Congress. This paled compared to the riots this summer. Of course, in your opinion those were all 'peaceful protests'. You and Wolf Blitzer, and Harry, belong in the same room. === Check the Reuters news site for some factual and unbiased reporting on Trump's "peaceful protest". https://www.reuters.com/ It was a mob, and they were bent on violence. Any other characterization is an act of denial. From Reuters: "In a late night news conference, Metropolitan Police Department Chief Robert J. Contee said 47 of the 52 arrests to date were related to violations of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s 6 p.m. curfew, with 26 of those involving people arrested on U.S. Capitol grounds. Several others were arrested on charges related to carrying unlicensed or prohibited firearms. It was not immediately clear how many people would be arraigned on Thursday. Contee told reporters late on Wednesday that two pipe bombs were recovered from the headquarters of the Republican and Democratic national committees, as well as a cooler from a vehicle on U.S. Capitol grounds that contained Molotov cocktails. A total of four people also died on Wednesday during the chaos at the Capitol, including one woman who was shot by a Capitol Police officer. Contee declined to identify the woman, saying next of kin notification was still pending. Three other people also died on Wednesday because of medical emergencies, he added, and 14 police officers were injured - two of whom remain hospitalized. It was not clear if other federal or local police agencies, including the Capitol Police, had made additional arrests. While the number of people arrested is expected to grow, the initial number pales in comparison to the more than 300 people who were arrested by police following the June 1 protests in the district related to the police killing of George Floyd. Also from Reuters: "MINNEAPOLIS (Reuters) - Peaceful rallies gave way to a third night of arson, looting and vandalism in Minneapolis on Thursday as protesters vented their rage over the death of a black man seen on video gasping for breath while a white police officer knelt on his neck. The latest spasm of unrest in Minnesota’s largest city went largely unchecked, despite Governor Tim Walz ordering the National Guard activated to help restore order following the first two days of disturbances sparked by Monday night’s fatal arrest of George Floyd, 46. In contrast with Wednesday night, when rock-throwing demonstrators clashed repeatedly with police in riot gear, law enforcement kept a low profile around the epicenter of the unrest, outside the city’s Third Precinct police station. Protesters massing outside the building briefly retreated under volleys of police tear gas and rubber bullets fired at them from the roof, only to reassemble and eventually attack the building head on, setting fire to the structure as police seemed to withdraw. Protesters were later observed on the roof. The city authority warned about ‘unconfirmed’ reports that gas lines to the Third Precinct police station were cut and that there were other explosives in the building. It appealed to people to retreat from the building. A car and at least two other buildings in the vicinity were also set ablaze, and looters returned for a second night to a nearby Target discount store, left boarded up and vacant from the previous night, to make off with whatever remained inside. Fire officials said 16 buildings were torched on Wednesday night. President Donald Trump on Twitter said that he will send the National Guard troops and “get the job done right” if Mayor Jacob Frey failed to bring the city under control. “Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts,” he wrote in tweets posted late midnight. Two very different stories, eh Wayne? Of course, CNN was calling these riots 'peaceful protests'! -- Freedom Isn't Free! |

You break into a federal building as part of an out of control gang of thugs, you risk being shot. Had she been demonstrating outside, marching, shouting, carrying signs, et cetera, she would have left with a fun memory. You force your way into the Capitol, the White House, et cetera, you may be shot. It is easy for me to say "play stupid games win stupid prizes" but if you want me to give a flying **** about George Floyd, Freddie Gray or Michael Brown, explain the difference. (except perhaps that Mrs Babbitt was NOT actively fighting with the cop). |
