The head of the branch of the Justice Department that prosecutes election crimes stepped down from his post Monday in protest over a memo from Attorney General William Barr to federal prosecutors authorizing them to investigate ?specific allegations? of voter fraud before the results of the presidential race are certified. Richard Pilger, who was director of the Election Crimes Branch of the DOJ, sent an email to colleagues saying he could not longer do his job in the wake of Barr?s memo, which was issued as the president?s legal team mount baseless legal challenges to the election results, alleging widespread voter fraud cost him the race. ?Having familiarized myself with the new policy and its ramifications, and in accord with the best tradition of the John C. Keeney Award for Exceptional Integrity and Professionalism (my most cherished Departmental recognition), I must regretfully resign from my role as Director of the Election Crimes Branch,? Pilger?s letter said, according to a copy obtained by NBC News. Pilger is remaining at the Justice Department in another capacity, officials said. -- *Expand the Supreme Court!* He should beÂ* fired. Right, because we can't have execs with integrity working for Trump or Barr... So investigate a crime after it is too late to matter? What election crime is that, Bilious. Be specific and offer up substantial evidence or satisfy yourself with channeling your idol, Donald Trump. As many as 5 ballots sent to the same person in some states. One right there. And I am sure you can cite actual examples of how many times that happened in every state where it happened, how many of those people voted five times without anyone catching it, and how that swayed an election. Sounds like Trump****. Hell, we have a city council member here in California who also has a residence in Oregon. Documented she voted in both places. Crooked politicians! Well that certainly changed the outcome of the election in both states...got anything substantial? Didn't think so. -- *Expand the Supreme Court!* |
