All these 'fixes' after Floyd's death won't amount to **** if some basic changes
aren't made. And, those changes have to start with parents. I don't see that
happening any time soon.

Freedom Isn't Free!
Looking at the article, says nothing is being done to actually educate
kids. More on improvement of tracking. Worst thing we did to schools was
letting the academics change the schools to all college prep and hoping the
kids who should have been in shop class, etc. went to community college to
learn. Admit all kids are not geniuses or excited to learn calculus.
They don't even teach basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills in
the schools where these problem kids are. It is really hard to direct
help to that demographic since we are not allowed to single anyone
out.
The unions protect the teachers and many parents don't give a ****.
The other problem is when a school system does try to use additional
resources to help kids with remedial learning they get in trouble
because those classes are not racially diverse enough. It looks like
they are stigmatizing black kids for being morons so they just pass
them along without learning basic skills.
You are right about the parents tho. When there are two or three
generations of illiterate parents it is hard to have much of a support
system at home, assuming there is a home.
