How did they get to be snap caps? Did you pull the bullets, dump the
powder, deprime them and replace the primer with some kind of HDPE or
something?
You probably should have drilled a hole or 2 in the case so you knew
they were dummies.


They got to be snap caps because I put them together as snap caps from
empty casings I snagged at the range and bullets I snagged from a
buddy's reloading bench. Put them together without powder, and the
primers are little round circles of hard rubber I superglued in.

At the moment, I have nothing that shoots that round, and the snap caps
are living in a baggie in a drawer. I just put them together so I could
sort of see how it was done.

I am interested in getting a 7.62x39 firearm, but not a semi-auto rifle.

Never saw a reloading press before? Strange for such a renowned
firearms expert such as yourself. Pretty simple stuff until you start

Never seen one operated. Told you many times, I have no interest in
reloading ammo. I did want to give it a mini-try, as it were. I bought
ammo before the recent TrumpCrisis, when it was cheap, and it is not
likely I will run out when the public ranges open again.

You think some "buddy" let him setup and use his press to push out the spent primer, neck size the case, then press and crimp the bullet in, all without ever seeing it done before? Ha, Ha. Ha!!!! Old weird harold wouldn't have a clue how to setup the dies!

His "buddy" gave him the shells with the bullets crimped in, and let him glue the rubber primers in himself. May have let him watch, but from across the room at at least 6 feet.
