When you cobble equipment withÂ* canabalizedÂ* parts because budget
doesn’t allow for new, you have results like Operation Eagle Claw.
And that was a major turning point in Jimmys attempt for re-election

Bull****. “

Nope. Fact, Harry.Â*Â*Â* Ronnie capitalized on the Eagle Claw disaster to
get elected by raising the fact that the military was too weak and had
to be rebuilt.

Yeah, Americans a gullible. What else is new?

rephrase please. That didn't make sense.

Any smart enemy knows now that all it has to do is unleash a

I am just very thankful that people like yourself have no part in

"Good Will" doesn't seem to really buy us much. Those people still
screw us over the first chance they get, usually while we are still
giving them things. Afghanistan would be a good example. Aid workers
are in as much danger as soldiers, maybe more because they are more
vulnerable. A hospital ship in a country like that is nothing but a
big white target with a red bullseye on every flat surface.

BTW where are all the TDS people who were telling us those hospital

You don't seem to understand what an aircraft carrier and the task

They are a mobile extension of our ability to defend the USA
globally.

They are not to go fight a nuclear war.

Yeah we have 18 Ohio class boats and any one of them could end the
world as we know it.

Bull****.

We don't need more warships, we need fewer, and fewer are easier to
maintain and budget parts for, too.

The problem with Eagle Claw was that Carter had an irrational belief
in the Navy and would not use the appropriate Army helicopters that
had filters on the air intakes so they could operate in the desert.
Their pit stop took out so many of them that the had to call the whole
thing off. It got worse from there. We also were not prepared for
desert warfare because they were not training for it so a little sand
storm took out a good chunk of the evacuating force. Look up cluster
**** in the military dictionary and there is a picture of Operation
Eagle Claw with that smiling jackass Carter standing there..

This country's infrastructure is crumbling, we have serious public
health issues, we have dozens of other problems. Spending more on the
military is not the solution.

The DoD budget is just a big white collar jobs program. Since everyone
is bound by prevailing union contracts (Davis Bacon) you should be
thrilled.

NATO Ha !
Another relic from the cold war that we could do without.

Just exactly who are we defending the "North Atlantic" from?
The Germans own both sides of the Fulda gap these days and the only
thing pouring through there is Russian gas and oil.

Seems Sadam would disagree on carriers being ineffective.

Most of the attacks on Iraq came from land based bombers (One of the
reasons 3/4ths of the 9/11 attackers were Saudi) but we have had
success beating up other little countries with our carriers. It has
really been the threat more than an actual attack. You do get their
attention when you park a Carrier Battle Group just over their horizon
and FA-18s are making low level supersonic passes over your city
breaking windows.

Nuclear powers? Venezuela?

Anybody who poses a threat, regardless of where they are or who they
are.

According to liberals, like Harry, no other nations pose a threat to the US.
Russia and China are not spending money on weapons. Or are they?

China seems to be stealing our designs more than spending money
creating their own.
