I have a friend who has had a decent, long career as an actor in TV series and in some Hollywood productions. It's damned unusual. These cable soaps seem to recycle a lot of the same people through, particularly the supporting actors. I guess it is like the old studio system except I doubt they are really under contract. I know it is hard to find a black supporting actor who was not on "The Wire". That may have been the best TV show of that genre ever tho. The writing was excellent and they had the "Maryland" thing pegged perfectly. It was probably because of the number of locals they hired. Most of them disappeared after the show ended. |
