and I couldn't run my spa.On Fri, 8 Jun 2018 10:49:42 -0700 (PDT), Tim wrote:
Bill - show quoted text - You are an electrical guy. Build an inboard with a generator attached. Take the power head off an old 2 stroke and add an electric motor. I have though for a time that that would be a cure for the high priced 4 stroke O/B’s. :::::: Some time ago that was considering making a “hybrid” for my other which would have been a small Kuboda 2 cyl powering a large cap. DC gen charging batteries which in turn would feed a DC forklift motor. This would turn a foldable prop from a jack shaft. I think it’d be neat but who wants to hear that diesel rattle and choke everyone. “The Africken’ Queen” would be a good name for it? I thought about doing something like that with a golf cart motor or two and a pontoon. It would still end up using a bunch of batteries I imagine. If you had the right charger you could use one of those quiet inverter generators to help keep the batteries up but watts is watts and you will still be depleting the batteries if you are running very hard. |
