Default "Y" valve for water intake ?

I'd like to install some kind of valve setup so that my raw-water
intake for my engine cooling can come from the sea-water
scoop or from a garden hose.

It doesn't need to be that sophisticated.

Put a "T" in the water intake line. Put a valve on the T side, and then a
female hose fitting.

I got around this by having a double-ended female adapter. Screws onto a
normal spigot and then onto the male end of the hose.
