Might take my wife out to dinner at Costco with the Federal
refund.
I am getting $3969.33
I didn't sell any stock this year and with my wife taking 4
months off
my line 43 was a little under $75k so my dividends were free. The
extra withholding I always take was a tad more than I needed.
....

I never get a refund. I always pay.
Me too. It's better than giving the feds an interest free loan
for a year.
What and give up that 0.25% my bank pays me?
I would rather have them paying me than me paying them. They won't
screw with you as much when you do guess wrong and owe them too much
if you have a history of them owing you. The year I did owe ~$15,000
the IRS guy said I would not have to file estimated the next year
because it was apparent that this was a one time thing.
(recaptured depreciation on the sale of our store)
Originally they said I would have to from then on and I went by to
talk to the man. He pulled up my record, typed a little and I was off
the hook a couple weeks later (letter in the mail)
1.55% at Synchrony Bank.
I don't have one of them around me.
With the rate changes I am going to go talk to my banks again tho.
The one I have been using here for the last 33 years is closing the
location near me and I may dump them. Another has more accounts open
than I need.

I don't have one near me either. I have my local accounts linked
with a high-yield savings at Synchrony. Moving money back and forth
takes 3 business days at the most.

You can get 1.7% at
https://firstclassdemandnotes.com/invest but
there is some paperwork involve to prove you are an accredited
investor. It's also not FDIC insured but Mercedes Benz in not going
away.

Update - they are up to 2% now. Probably due to the increase from the
Fed.

Update two... now 2.5%.

I guess I should be looking for a place to park the cash I am sitting
on, waiting for the bottom.

I do not want to be locked in for 5 years and the penalty for breaking
a CD is onerous.
