I finally got the security camera working but I am really disappointed.

I was hoping to access it from my desktop computer in my office with the
camera mounted outside on a deck by the main door. If heard the
doorbell when in the office I was hoping I could quickly access the
image on the computer to see who it was.

Well, no can do.

It's software (MyDLink) is no supported for Firefox. So, I figured I'd
install it on the Windows 10 browser "Edge". After trying
unsuccessfully to download the software I found out that it's not
supported on Edge either. It's not a Firefox or Edge issue. It's
MyDlink's software that no longer works in either browser.

I got it running .... on my android cell phone but in the time it takes
for the app to open and show an image I could invite whoever was at the
door in and make him/her a cup of coffee.

Waste of time. I am really ****ed because the packaging genius that
designed the box the camera came in must be evil. It was like a safe.
I ended up destroying the box to get it open so now I can't return the
stupid camera. Oh well. It wasn't that much anyway ... $70 ... and it
gave me something to do for a day and a half.

I have a large window behind my chair in the office. I think I'll go to
AutoZone and buy a trucker's mirror and mount it outside on the side of
the house. All I'd have to do is turn around, look at the mirror and
I'd see who was at the door. Simple.

I have Chrome on this desktop and I was going to try it however Google
immediately wants a whole bunch of information about you in order to
download anything to Chrome. I distrust Google passionately and try to
avoid anything Google has anything to do with.

I think the trucker's mirror will work just fine. :-)

You might try searching for microsoft apps or third party windows
applications that will run dlink ip cameras. I found 1
application that works with my cameras. This whole ip camera
thing leaves something to be desired as far as compatibility is
concerned. Good luck, you're making progress.

It works but I really didn't want to have to use the cell phone. Did
some research and apparently it's a problem for a lot of users. Thing
is, the days of using computers are coming to an end and everything is
being developed for cell phones and tablets.

I could probably load it in my iPad because it's supposed to work in
Apple's OS. But for now, I've lost interest. Have another project to do.

Try your old W/7 laptop with Internet Exploder or that version of FF.
A lot of times these things just don't work with new versions. My PC
based security DVR runs on W/98. As long as that is all I use the
machine for, who cares?
It is like all of those Point of Sale terminals still running XP.

And I believe win7 is easily upgraded to win9 for free. I did that with my lappie and for what I do, I really can’t tell much difference. Lol..
