"Friendly fire" (the ultimate oxymoron) is explicitly included in the criteria. Where? Certainly not explicit in your post. The only thing you posted that I read that may cover "friendly fire" is an exclusion: (g) Accidents, to include explosive, aircraft, vehicular, and other accidental wounding not related to or caused by enemy action. I've always found it a good practice to try to find source information when I'm involved in any sort of adversarial discussion. Happily, it's trivially easy to find the information about the Order of the Purple Heart. Joe Parsons The only thing you posted that I read that may cover "friendly fire" is an exclusion: I did not post all the text concerning the award. Since it's so readily available, it seemed redundant. Guess not. In this case you provided a list which you described as the "specific criteria" and concluded with the statement that "Friendly fire ... is explicitly included in the criteria" when it was singularly absent. Just a nit really but "explicit" does mean something more than just being one of those clever little words that set a tone. It means: fully revealed or expressed without vagueness, implication, or ambiguity. Rick |
